One Simple To Follow Formula To Get You Put On 
"The Map To The MLM Star's Homes" And Enjoy The 
View From The Top

I’m pretty sure that New Year’s resolutions don’t 
do much more than make you feel like a failure by 
February. That’s when you normally start smoking 
again or go back to eating whatever it is you decided 
was bad for you to eat at he beginning of the year. 
Feeling like a failure so early in the new year can 
only lead to mediocrity. Miring in mediocrity has 
never been one of my favorite activities so I don’t 
do New Years resolutions anymore. I realize that 
this is contrary to popular thought but, popular 
though might just be overrated.

On occasion I like to buy things during market 
conditions that make it down right cheap to buy. 
Stocks at the beginning of 2002 were a particularly 
good buy because popular thought dictated that nobody 
wanted theirs anymore. Today is good because I happen 
to like steaks. I’m pretty happy everyone else is 
eating chicken or turkey right now. The price of beef 
has gone down and will probably get even cheaper. It’s 
a great time to fill the freezer or get a reservation 
at my favorite steak house. Thankfully, most people 
don’t know you can’t get mad cow disease from eating 
steaks.

I found out several years ago that you could pretty 
much guarantee your success at most anything by 
watching what the majority of people do and then 
doing the opposite. Take MLM for example; most people 
join a company and then do nothing. Doing the opposite 
of nothing works well in MLM. Most people spend 
whatever the entry fee is to join a MLM and then sell 
to their friends at wholesale. I have found that 
selling at retail creates a profit, always a good 
thing when you are in business for your self.

Most people tell their prospects that you don’t have 
to work very hard when you join their MLM. So I started 
telling my prospects that you have to work hard with my 
MLM to make money. The funny thing is, by telling them 
that, I started only sponsoring hard working people. 
One of the hard working ones is worth 15-20 of the ones 
who don't want to work. Then I listened to what else 
most MLM people were saying. "You don’t have to buy 
product with my MLM." I started telling everyone I 
sponsored that they needed to be on autoship. I heard 
that; "You never have to sponsor anyone." I started 
telling my prospects that you have to sponsor a minimum 
of 5 new people each month. I heard that; "It’s easy, 
you will get rich over-night." So, I started telling 
my prospects that you have to be in it for the long haul 
and to plan on working 3-5 years to build a business that 
will take care of you for life.

Wow, what a great revelation! Business gets good when 
you do what others don't. You can learn a lot by 
listening to the crowd. If nothing else, you will learn 
to travel the path least taken (always the one with the 
best view). You can buy a map to the star’s homes if 
you wish, but wouldn’t it be great to be on the map?

Every year in January, Pattie and I go stay at the local 
lodge for a couple nights to get away from our day-to-day 
business and lives to plan out the next twelve months. 
We generally relax and enjoy the first night away without 
getting into business. The next morning we wake up with 
a huge amount of clarity and excitement for the process. 
We then fill an 8 ½ x 11 pad or two with ideas and plans. 
Most of our first day is devoted to creative thought and 
new ideas. By the end of our second morning (check out 
time) we have a great new plan for the year in place, 
which is creative, exciting and doable.

The year has just begun. Why not escape from the ordinary, 
break away from the crowd and do something different. 
Why not take a couple days off from your life and escape 
to someplace you can be alone? Why not make a plan to 
win with for this year? The worst that will happen is 
you will enjoy a couple great days. And the best? You 
could get your address put on the Map of the MLM 
Star’s Homes.

How to Work at Home and Keep Your Sanity!

Working at home can be a blessing and/or a disaster 
depending on how you are able to handle it. A home 
business or job is not for all of us. I know a lot 
of people who much prefer to "get out in the world" 
to work.

I absolutely love working at home. I did enjoy working 
outside the home as well, but I am a homebody and much 
prefer working at home. It does have disadvantages and 
problems though as well.

* Isolation - This can be a tough one to deal with 
for some people. Sitting in your lonely little corner 
or home office hour after hour can get you down. When 
you start feeling isolated and lonely contact an online 
friend and chat awhile. If no one is available, take 
a break and get outside. Take a walk to visit a friend 
or family member. Just getting out in the fresh air can 
make you feel rejuvenated and alive again. Even a phone 
call to an old friend or your spouse, if possible, can 
do wonders.


* Self-discipline - This one can be a tuffy. Having 
your own business can tend to make us lazy once in 
awhile. I know it does me. ;-) What I do is go over 
my goals and the reasons I started my business in the 
first place. I also think about all my readers/customers 
who are counting on me. This helps me get back into 
focus and to get motivated to go back to work. You need 
to train yourself to work when it is work time because 
you have no boss to do it for you.


*Schedule Keeping - Making up a schedule is easy, 
sticking to it is not. I try not to have too strict 
of a schedule because it probably will need to be 
changed now and then. Try a daily schedule instead 
of a hourly one. This will make it much easier to 
bend it when you need to. Not being able to follow 
your schedule can be frustrating to say the least, 
but preparing a flexible schedule makes it less 
stressful on you and everyone else.


*Family Distractions - This is one of the main reasons 
it is so hard to stick to our schedules! ;-) Make time 
for your family and make sure they understand that work 
time is for work and family time is for them. With me, 
my family comes first and I arrange my schedule around 
them and it works out very well.


*Lack of Respect - Although we know how important our 
business is, our family or friends may not. They think 
we are playing around or just doing a hobby. You need 
to sit them down and explain that this is your job and 
it is very important to you and they need to respect 
that. Be firm. They will get the message. ;-)


*Organization - Although we might be very organized, 
we just might not have the space when working at home. 
Some people might have a office, but some of us have 
work stations or corners. I have a corner. Although, 
I don't have much room, I am able to stay fairly well 
organized. I have a shelf, a desk and a drawer - with 
a file cabinet in another room and this is all I need.

Most of the organizing is on the computer so I don't 
need a lot of outside room. I print out pertinent 
records and file them accordingly. I have a 4-story 
paper tray which holds all my "need now or soon" papers. 
The shelf holds my printer, answering machine and phone. 
And I also have a junk drawer ( we all need one of 
those)! ;-) This works out with very few or no problems.

Although working at home does have some disadvantages, 
I would not want to give it up for anything. I love 
the freedom of it, the excitement of it, the pride of 
it, and all the wonderful people I have met. 

If you feel you are a candidate for a home business or 
job, I say go for it, but I wish you much success in 
whichever path you choose!
