1. Message from Zamri...

Dear Colleague,

Welcome to our new subscribers and Good Monday everyone !
How are you doing today ?

A few subscribers emailed me -- 'Who on earth are you ?
Can you tell a little bit more about yourself...?'

My apologies to those nice people. I knew that this question
would come up (especially when you run a website and internet
is in fact full of strangers).

By the way, I don't plan to conceal myself from you either. :-)

Well, I'm a guy who's married to a beautiful wife, Lynda. We
have a couple of kids. Aiman, a one year old son, and Syafiqah,
a four year old daughter. I know, I know... Not common names
for most people. :-) Even my name is not so familiar too...

We live on a beautiful island of Penang, Malaysia (pssst. Come
visit us and you'll be a frequent tourist for many years to
come <smile> )
 
I am an engineer by profession, and graduated with a Computer
Engineering degree from Syracuse University, New York six years
ago (any SU alumni here ?). I love internet and I want to do
something to be a part of it. So, here I am.

My passion for network marketing business started when I saw
more and more people were getting rich from the business. Yet,
more and more people failed. I was amazed to see why that
happened. And, it is still happening.

I almost became another anti-MLM zealot when a few friends of
mine tried to recruit me into their program. Yes, they worked
together.

What happened next ? Every one of us failed...
Why ? We did not know what to do with the business.
Whose to blame ? Me ? my friends ? the company ?

Luckily I realized that education would bring me the answers to
all my questions. I don't blame people who hate this business.
Most of them hate it because of lack of knowledge. Until they
understand what network marketing is, they will always be on
the un-informed side (my opinion).

It is up to us to tell them what the business is all about.


Hey, this sounds like my first job interview. I better stop here
before someone decides to hire me.. <grin>

10 Tips To Overcome Your Fear Of Selling

Ahh. Selling. Sometimes, this is a word that is dreaded and
feared by all but the most intrepid business owners. It seems
that, even though we all know we need to "sell" our products
and services, many of us feel fearful or anxious about
actually doing so.

These 10 tips are designed to help you shift out of your fear,
and into excitement, about sharing your product or service.

1) Know the source of your fear. This tip reminds us that it
is necessary, first, to know what we're afraid of. Most often,
fears of selling come in several forms. Either we worry about
not being liked, or being perceived as pushy, we (secretly)
worry that our product or service might not perform as we say,
or we struggle with the idea of rejection. Knowing the source
of your fear (sometimes it can be a combination) is an important
part of overcoming your fear of selling.

2) Take action to address the source. In this way, you are
taking action to overcome your fear. In some cases, this might
mean that you improve your product or service (you can use
customer feedback for this), or you can find ways to share your
product/service in a way that feels more authentic and natural
to you. You can also find ways to "bounce back" after rejection
which is easier to do, by the way, if you don't take "no"
personally.

3) Find enthusiasm for what you offer. One of the best
techniques I've ever used to overcome my fear of selling has
been to tap into my passion and enthusiasm for what I'm
offering. I make a list of all the really wonderful benefits
and successful outcomes of past customers. I hang this list
nearby where I can see it everyday. Try this for yourself -
your confidence will skyrocket.

4) Shift your perspective. How would it feel to think of
yourself as "sharing information" about what you do? Or
"showing benefits" or "sharing your passion?" If you feel
uncomfortable or anxious about "selling"- find a way to shift
your perspective to one of sharing information rather than
"convincing someone to buy."

5) Start small. Very often, people tend to tackle projects
much larger than they can comfortably handle. When you want to
overcome your fear of selling, start small. Maybe you will
share your new business with a few trusted friends first and
then gradually find ways to expand your sharing to include a
larger circle. The most successful business people are those
who interact with others in an authentic, passionate way so
find a way that feels comfortable with you and stay with it.

6) Keep track of your successes. Keep a "wins" or success
journal nearby and record your achievements in it each day.
This will help you stay aware of just how much you do right.
We sometimes forget this.

7) Have fun with it. Rather than approaching this from a heavy
"have to", "doesn't feel good" perspective find a fun,
interesting way to share your knowledge or passion. Some of my
clients have thrown parties, offered free giveaways, donated
products/services to charities - all of these were easy, fun,
and income generating. What would be fun for you?

8) Stay focused on your desired outcome. Most people take
actions and reach their goals because they stay focused on the
benefits of doing so. Sometimes, reminding yourself what you
want, why you're doing this can help you take the next action
and the next.

9) Detach from how the outcome shows up. Very often, we get
really attached to "making the sale" or having a situation
turn out a certain way. Instead, why not focus on efforts
"I will give a great, enthusiastic, and passionate presentation"
rather than outcome: "They will buy X number of this." Very
often, if you stay focused on the effort - doing a great
job - the outcome turns out better than you ever imagined.

10) Keep practicing. Like any other business skill, "selling"
gets easier the more you do it. So get out there, start small,
and keep practicing.

Building Your Network Marketing Mutual Fund

Lawrence and his wife Debbie walked into my office back in early
2000. They were a handsome couple in their mid-50s. They had 4
beautiful children, a large home, and both earned a combined
income of $500,000 a year. He was an attorney, she was doctor.

However, for all intents and purposes, they were also broke.

During my many years as a financial planner, I ran into the
Lawrence and Debbie's of world more often than you might think.
From the outside it looked like they had it all. Money,
prestige, a large home, nice cars, etc. But in truth, they had
no real nest egg. Nothing set aside for retirement. At least,
not enough to continue their current lifestyle.

Had they simply put away 10 Percent of their Net Income into a
good index mutual fund when they first started working, they
would have had over 2 million dollars saved up.

Now what does this have to do with your Networking enterprise?

I've told many families to invest in mutual funds, mostly
because they did not have the desire or time to learn how to
invest in real estate or individual stocks.

Mutual funds were originally designed to be long-term
investments. Find a few good funds, dollar-cost-average into
them, and in 25-40 years you would have a large nest egg. Enough
to retire on.

Yet today, many "experts" are advising that this "buy and hold"
approach to mutual fund investing doesn't work. Yet, time and
time again long-term studies have proven otherwise.

Your Network Market^ing enterprise is just like that. It is your
mutual fund where a bunch of people get together and pool their
resources. They pool their money, time, expertise, and effort
for that thing called "growing residual income."

Just like a mutual fund, it takes consistency and time, before
you begin to see results. Seriously, your first year in
networking is about planting seeds, learning, and refining your
marketing approach. It's not about who can bring in 10 people
this month.

Yet, by taking this approach, it won't take you 25-40 years. You
won't have to work 30-40 years before you retire. Your Network
Market^ing Mutual Fund (NMMF) should only take a fraction of
that time frame.

I almost always get asked, "How long will it take me to earn
$10,000 a month?".

This is always difficult to answer because this depends on a
myriad of factors:

* How much time you have to invest
* HOW that time is spent
* The kind of marketing system you are using
* How you are using the phone, if at all
* What primary / secondary / etc. programs you are working
* The compensation plan (is it fair and equitable?)
* The proper mindset
* Level of commitment
* A sound and effective strategy to combat apathy,
frustration, and rejection
* Having a business plan
* Effective tax planning

While there are people who have done this in a year, that is NOT
the norm. Yet there are people out there who will make you think
it is.

Hogwash.

Your average person might be able to dedicate 10 hours of
focused effort on their business. Your average person has about
$150 a month to spend on their networking business. Your average
person takes about 3 months to bring in their first
representative or customer.

Just based on all these averages, it would take an average of 7
to 10 years to build a 10,000 a month income stream. Warning:
These are simply averages.

Your average person also quits in less than 10 months.

Unless you have a lot of start up capital, are friends with all
the major Internet Marketers, or have a HUGE opt-in list, your
NMMF is going to take TIME and nothing but time to build.

By simply understanding that, adopting a long-term mindset, you
WILL forge ahead.

So just like Lawrence and Debbie, there are a lot of Networkers
out there that have a flashy website, excellent webcopy, and
maybe they really ARE earning 5 figures a month. They seem to
have it all. But because they violate the Laws of Business, that
income disappears.

You see them starting another "new deal" or promoting the
"newest, hottest" thing. They have to. They need to. Otherwise
they'd go broke.

Just by staying the course, you'll be the one earning 5 figures
a month - permanently. You will have built a solid NMMF.
